Thanks to the fine folks at Disney who just donated a few computers, we now have a computer lab here at Karis. It was an incredible gift and has allowed for the women to have a place to write resumes, research, and play some games. We’re very grateful.
Market raises over $16K for Karis
Bottega Farm hosted the fifth annual charity Christmas Market on Saturday, November 28th & Sunday, November 29th with all proceeds going towards Karis. A total of $16,500 was raised and we are so honoured to have such a great event helping our organization.
Over the two days, the festive market featured over 50 of the Okanagan’s finest artists & crafters including some of our very own Karis artists selling crafts and artwork.
Thanks to everyone who helped participate and we’ll see you next year!

Open house
Our recent open house was an incredible experience with over 200 people coming to welcome our new facility.
Celebrations of real life
Celebration is part of Karis’s DNA. Recovery is challenging, so we observe every milestone by celebrating with enthusiasm. We have fun commemorating birthdays and observing holidays, but the most ardent celebrating happens when women achieve every hard-won step in the recovery journey, including daily goals.
Our favourite day of the year takes place on an ordinary day in July. On that day, we gather together with family and supporters to recognize every step of courage and resilience from the year before. The day is full of all kinds of artistic expression. We laugh and we cry as women share spirited stories of overcoming years of sorrow and heartache.
Stories like Mehgan’s. Overwhelmed by loneliness and shame, Meghan languished in a dark place of addiction and despair that prevented her from having a meaningful relationship with her children and grandchildren. After a courageous family intervention, Meghan was moved to take small steps toward facing her addiction. Each victory helped her believe that she could be accepted and that hope could prevail. Last July we celebrated with Mehgan and her children her second year of positive steps forward in recovery and the joy of life with her grandchildren.
Karis Wins Civic Award
Karis Support Society is very honoured to announce our acceptance of the Volunteer Organization of the Year Award last night at Kelowna Civic & Community Awards Gala. Check out the article that Castanet wrote about this event.
Thank you to your volunteer Barbara Februar for nominating us as well as Liz at NOW Canada for mentoring us through the length nomination process and application. And thank you to all of our volunteers who are so willingly give their time to the women (a few men) and families that call Karis home.
Thank you.
