Recreational therapy is an important part of our programming at Karis as it contributes to overall health and wellness, independence, productivity and quality of life.  It enhances physical, emotional, cognitive and social development, which supports our participants to engage and participate to their full potential ensuring they can thrive independently in their life pursuits.

Recreational therapy is also proven to help with stress, anxiety, depression and mental health issues and hence has become an important part of our weekly programming.

Our recreational therapy classes take place three afternoons a week and are provided entirely by volunteers in our community.  Classes range from physical fitness classes such as yoga, dance and musical theatre to tai chi, art therapy, meditation and writing therapy.

These classes would not be possible without the support of the amazing people in our community who step in to share their time and talents.  If you would be interested in volunteering to provide a recreational therapy class at Karis we would love to hear from you.

Please email info@karis-society.org to learn more about our recreational therapy program and how you can get involved.
